Streetcare Short-listed for Top Award

The outstanding work of Rhondda Cynon Taf Streetcare and the residents its serves has been recognised in the Cylch Recycling Awards.

The Streetcare team have been short-listed for two major awards – Innovation Award and Local Authority Partnership Award.

The Innovation Award is given to organisations that go over and above in finding new and innovative solutions to recycle. This year has seen some amazing projects launched by the dedicated Streetcare team, these include – Bike Recycling, Zero Waste in Pontypridd High School, Re-Uniform and Enviro-vision to name a few. All of these project aim to engage with young people and residents to encourage them to re-use and recycle in new ways.

The Local Authority Partnership Award is presented to local Council’s that have worked with partners to help keep their County Borough’s clean and green. Rhondda Cynon Taf Council works with a wide range of partners, including local environment groups, Amgen Cymru, Communities First, schools and volutary organisation. This has led to clean ups in local villages, the Green Glyncoch project, Love Where You Live Awards and lots more.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council continues to encourage and support people and by running an accessible and innovative recycling service, complemented by ongoing public education and awareness-raising, we are allowing residents to make up their own minds. And more and more people are making the right decision.

“We make the service as user-friendly as possible, continually extending the way in which you can recycle and educating people and it works just as well as these figures prove. The fact that we have been short-listed for this award is testimony to the hard work of residents and the Streetcare team alike.”
