Sunday treats for city park visitors

This Sunday will mark one of the highlights of this August’s dazzling Botanics in Bloom Festival in Singleton Park.

Amateur gardeners and expert horticulturalists alike can snap up a showpiece for their gardens at the celebrated rare plant sale, taking place from 10am until 5pm.

Twenty Welsh nurseries will be present at the sale making it a real treat for green-fingered visitors.

There will also be free entertainment for music-lovers and children, making it a cheap summer day out for the whole family. The Swansea Accordion Orchestra will be performing a free concert at 3 o’clock while children can enjoy arts and crafts and face painting from 3 until 5pm.

Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, Graham Thomas said, “We have over fifty parks and green spaces in Swansea and Singleton Botanics really is one of the jewels in the crown.

“There is a huge amount happening during the Botanics in Bloom Festival, a wonderful celebration of the gardens, and it’s a great way to enjoy a day out on a tight budget.

“I would thoroughly recommend logging on to the website to find out what’s on, or just turning up and enjoying the beauty and tranquillity at the heart of our city.”
