Tenby dive ahead

Young swimmers from Tenby have won the annual RAOB Water Dragons Challenge.

Now in its 31st year, the event, which is sponsored by the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes, aims to give young swimmers between seven and 10 their first taste of competition.

This year’s competition took place in Pembroke Leisure Centre earlier this month.

It featured teams from Haverfordwest Seals, Pembroke & District, Tenby Dolphins plus smaller teams from Fishguard Flyers and Milford Haven Tigers.

The youngsters competed in a range of 25 metres races, including relay competitions.

While the Tenby team won the overall team competition and the boys event, Pembroke won the girls competition.

Pembrokeshire swimming development coach Paul Dowey congratulated all the youngsters who took part.

“There were lots of individual successes and many personal bests as some of the youngsters took their first tentative steps at competition swimming,” he said.
