Tenby RNLI lifeboat launches after report of red flares

Tenby all-weather RNLI lifeboat was requested to launch at 6.45pm on Thursday 2 February after Milford Haven Coastguard received a call from a fishing boat stating that red flares had been sighted in the St Govans area.

While on their way to St Govans, volunteer crew on the lifeboat also witnessed several red flares fired in the same area. A thorough search was conducted from Freshwater East to St Govans with nothing found. Further information received then determined that the flares were in fact part of a military exercise taking place in the Castlemartin area.

The lifeboat returned to station, arriving back in Tenby at 8.25pm.
