Fishguard in search for possible missing child

Both the inshore and all-weather lifeboats from Fishguard RNLI launched on Sunday morning, 28 August and headed for Newport after a member of the public called the Emergency Services, having found a pile of children’s clothing on the foreshore near the old Lifeboat Station at Newport.

This resulted in HM Coastguard requesting the launch to enable a search of the shoreline by the RNLI inshore lifeboat volunteer crew while the RNLI all weather lifeboat volunteers searched the offshore waters.

No-one was found and the police eventually determined that the clothing had been in-situ for a considerable time and had been discarded. Both RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews  were stood down after approximately one and half hours searching and returned to station at midday.
