Flintshire teachers receive Leadership awards

Over 40 School Leaders from across Flintshire received their Leadership awards in a presentation ceremony in the Alyn and Deeside Room at County Hall recently.

These awards from the University of Chester represent a key element in Flintshire LEA’s School Improvement agenda.

Graduate Certificates in School and Subject Leadership were awarded to school and curriculum leaders who have successfully completed the Flintshire LEA / University of Chester Programmes.

The certificates were presented by Anna Sutton, Dean of Education and Children’s Services at the University of Chester; and Cllr. Nigel Steele-Mortimer, Executive Member for Education.

This was the final ‘presentation of certificates’ ceremony for a programme which has been run for the last decade by Don Platten, former Head of Castell Alun, who is retiring after more than 40 years service. The programme has awarded over 400 successful teachers.

Councillor Steele-Mortimer said:

“I wish to congratulate everyone in attaining these qualifications. It is testament to the hard work and dedication they show to their profession, their schools and the pupils and students of Flintshire. I am sorry that this particular programme is coming to an end, and would like to thank Don for his work in organising it. I hope that we can make other arrangements to follow on from this successful scheme soon.”
